What is the OLEV grant?

The OLEV grant is a great incentive designed to make electric cars much more appealing and accessible. The grant offers £350 to assist with the costs associated, which can subsidise a huge portion of the cost of your home charging point. The grant was set up by the Office of Low Emission Vehicles in 2016 and has been going ever since.

Do I qualify for the OLEV grant?

It is pretty easy to find out if you qualify for the grant, and it depends on just a few factors. You must have off-street parking, such as a garage or a driveway, so you have a safe space to consistently charge your car. You also need to check the charger you want is an OLEV-approved charging point. as well as this, you also have to ensure you use an OLEV-approved installer for your charger.

If you have a full battery electric car then you are guaranteed to be eligible. If you have a plug-in vehicle, then you need to check that your CO2 emissions are below 75g/km.

If you are from Scotland, it is also a good idea to check out a grant offered by the Energy Savings Trust, Scotland. This is an additional grant that can offer you another £300 on top of the OLEV grant, as an incentive for Scottish EV drivers.

How do I apply for the OLEV grant?

The form is simple to fill out and requires you to answer a few questions to prove that you are eligible.
